The last time I wrote about a music company was when I wrote about “Guy Hands” and his then company EMI. I wrote about it because his situation was considered one of the worst equity deals in history. And I also wrote about it because it was big big BIG business! It’s not a multimillion dollar company, it’s a billion dollar company. Even before Russian born billionaire Len Blavatnik bought EMI, I already knew he would get it because he had already taken control of Warner Music Group!
Maybe Guy Hands wouldn’t have even been in that situation had he appointed someone from his venture capital firm “Terra Firma”. I’m not saying that “PriceWaterhouseCoopers” didn’t do their job or was unqualified for that position. I’m just saying that it would have made sense now that “Guy Hands” basically said he was in the dark about the financial information of EMI. It’s not my business and I’m staying out of it, I just get passionate about big business, especially when it comes to music or film. Guy Hands -> WILL YOUR RECORD LABEL GET PRICEWATERHOUSECOOPERED?
Now you have Groove Sharks “Paul Geller” publicly stating that Universal Music Group and Digital Music News are conspiring to bring Groove Shark down.
I don’t want to speak on this situation as much as I did with Guy Hands ,EMI Citigroup ,and PriceWaterHouseCoopers. That was a music company, a bank an accountancy firm , and a venture capital firm owner. This is an international online music search engine, a music company and a media outlet. It should be rather interesting to see how this all turns out. Keep in mind that Paul Geller is the Senior Vice President of “external affairs” at Groove Shark, specializing in executive organization and oversight . Not choosing sides but I’m sure he has to be sharp in order to hold that position.
Here is what Digital Music News says about the ordeal
