V: What’s good! Tell everyone about yourself and where you’re from for those who might now know?

JUSTIS: I’m chillin V, for those who might not know me im Justis James to the public and my friends call me Jus.

V: Thank you for taking time out of ya busy schedule to chop it up with us.

JUSTIS: No problem, anytime for the music V.

V: So what was it like growing up developing your craft and who was your biggest supporter?

JUSTIS: Growing up for the most part my biggest supporters have been my music lovers. They gave me the fuel to fully develop it.

V: How’d you get into hip hop and how long you been actually spittin’?

JUSTIS: Me and hip hop had a love/hate relationship, at first I hated it and then I started loving it. I started listening to rap when I was 12 and started thinking I can do that, so I’ve been doing it ever since.But now I do HIP POP!

V: How old were you when you competed in your first battle?

JUSTIS: I think I was like 16, I lost a few but after that I started letting them have it. But I’m not a battle rapper I like to write songs #KnowWhatIMean? perfect my craft.

V: Who were some of the people that you grew up listening to that inspired you along the way?

JUSTIS: I listened to Jay, Nas, Pun, Big, Pac, Wutang, Outcast, Rakim, Run DMC, LL and Slick Rick, but for the most part I listed to rock, pop, r&b and rap.so you know I’m UK with the swagg all on my drip.

V: Word. What other artists would you like to work with if you had the opportunity too?

JUSTIS: Rhianna,T.I Diddy, , Kanye, Pink, Ke$ha and Eminem and Robin thick, Trey Songs, Evenescence and umm im pretty much open to great artist. I would have wanted to work with Jay Z but he’s a hater.

V: Very diverse choices there so many ways that can flow. Who are your top 5 MC’s/Rappers/Lyricists out right now kill en the game that you look up to or have respect for their grind?

JUSTIS: I don’t know who’s kill en the game right now, but I’ve always respected the grinds of Luda,Uncle Rush, Diddy, Jays,50’s, and Kanye’s.

V: Would you rather stay independent or get picked up by a label and Why?

JUSTIS: Independents cool but a major can definitely give me the marketing and promotion I need. But you can be more creative as an independent.

V: What are you bringing to the game and how is integrity translated through your music?

JUSTIS: I’m bringing energy and creativity to the game, and my music is pretty much entertainment so the listeners can blast it in there cars or sit at home, kick there shoes off and eat some popcorn to it. (Its a movie)Entertainment purposes only.

V: Is there anyone in the music business or Hollywood you would consider dating?

JUSTIS: In hollywood it would be between  Megan Fox, and Stacy Dash, there are a few others but I’ll keep that to my self. And in music I always Rhianna was hot! Brittany Spears can get it too.

V: With all the music that’s out there’s a steady trend that stands out 2 you?

JUSTIS: Um I hear alot of dudes sneaking in the game using auto tune. I’ve  never used it. When I triple my vocals it sounds like auto tune but its not, it’s my natural voice. But I might try it out one day.

V: What are your thoughts on the music industry today?

JUSTIS: The music industry today is BANANAS.I aint monkeyin around with you bananas! Some of these people need hugs and an ass kickin in ethics.

V: Why should someone go out there and cop your mix tape rather then the next person hustling the same grind as you? What makes you so different?

JUSTIS: Lets just say when she listens to me she feels inspired, when she listens to them she feels tired. I grind HAW’D!

V: Now you’ve been relevant in the game for a min do you have any advice for them or up and coming artist such as yourself?

JUSTIS: Stay humble and live life to the fullest. And mind your business and focus on your projects.

V: You know there’s a lot of cats out there just like you who are hungry and starving to get to the top. They often get so caught up in the hype then they forget about the D word (dedication) Sidetracked by the limelight. We refer to them as one hit wonders. Are you here to stay?

JUSTIS: I wear my shades so I don’t get blinded by the light. So I’m definitely here to stay. I love the limelight tho. I’ve been doing music forever , i cant picture a day without music.

V: So for all that you’ve done so far in the game do you write, do your own beats and produce as well? How do you bring all collaborative efforts together?

JUSTIS: Yes I write and I try to work with some great producers. I always am networking with hopes of finding that new sound. And yes I’ve ghost written but I’ll leave it at that.

V: So when you’re not writing and working on new material what do you like doing as a hobby or just on an ordinary day?

JUSTIS: If I’m not writing I’m coming up with verses in my head. I’m always coming up with new material. You could be talking to me and in the middle of the conversation I’m coming up with verses in my head. But I like to travel and exercise.AND I LOVE THE LADIES.

V: NICE. Any projects you’ve got in the works that you can tell us about? What are you working on now?

JUSTIS: I’m working on my album Starz and a film project “Illumination Blueminatti”. Both 4.1.12

V: Being as you coming up in this wave of technology, what is your take on the bootleggers?

JUSTIS: Aww man, all this technology just gave bootleggers more options lol.

V: Real Talk yet album sales will never be what they were. Now they have iTunes and all these sites where you can sell your music, which is cool but could never amount up to selling an album. How do you think that will change when your time comes to shine on top? Would you rather sell your music VIA Internet or tangible albums?

JUSTIS: It’s harder for artist to go platinum nowadays no matter the music genre, and I guess sites like iTunes is just evolution so it will be here when I’m on top but I still prefer tangible albums. But at the end of the day BOTH MAKES MONEY.

V: I hear ya. Now, there’s alot of young cats entering this rap game without a lot or any knowledge, backup plans or education, thinking it’s easier than it is. What is your perception of how you will accomplish your career and if you want give us a 5 to 10 step (short) process of how you’re actually working and have been working ya way to the top? What are you doing to make ya name known?

JUSTIS: 1) FIND LOYAL PEOPLE. 2) STAY FOCUSED 3) STAY PASSIONATE 4) TRUST THE MONEY OVER ALL 5) LEARN BUSINESS.

V: LOL word. Anything you want to add before we end?
