Officer Austin Of The Collingswood NJ PD

BACK2THEFRESH (AP) Lately I’ve contemplated about the drastic rise in police and U.S citizen clashes this decade.

The violence on both sides of the ball is being triggered by something invisible to the watchful eye of the media.

My evaluation comes from my direct relationship with police of all races and cultures in different countries.

Some of my childhood friends and family members grew up to be officers, so we’ve always had some form of connection.

They’ve watched me grow up and 98% of the time, they’re friendly no matter where I travel.

I admit that every encounter that I’ve had with police wasn’t golden.

For instance, one time while I had amnesia, I had a tiny non violent dispute with an intoxicated family member.

The officers arrived at my residence to resolve the matter, and it didn’t quite turn out the way it should have.

To sum it all up, one of the officers pulled his firearm out and threatened to discharge 5 shots into me for no apparent reason, in front of 3 witnesses.

As his partner gazed at him, I spoke to him slowly and didn’t move.

And to perfectly be honest with you, everyone was bewildered.

That encounter may have gone south if I didn’t communicate respectfully.

I sustained my composure and maintained eye contact with the officer, because I  figured he just had a bad day.

And that happens sometimes because of how strenuous the job is.

Another time I was at a park where I trail run, sitting in a parked vehicle with an ex girlfriend, and police popped up on us wondering what we were doing.

One of the officers just wanted to tear something up, but I offered him some root beer soda and assured him that we were just down the road from my friends film studio, and I was brain storming.

We diffused that situation in a matter of minutes.

The point I’m trying to make, is how you speak to police, determines the outcome.

Many times Police are given “misinformation” by an individual in order to mask what they are current doing, so you have to be careful.

I’d love America so much right now if everyone just took the time to think about responses, before verbally communicating with each other to reduce the violence.

It’s worked for me so I know it’ll work for you.
